Bangor University’s Business School is now amongst the top 15 institutions in the world for research in the field of Banking (as of October 2013). Bangor ranked ahead of Universities such as Harvard Business School and Princeton in the October 2013 rankings by RePEc, a division of the Economic Research Department of the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis. It also retains its place as the highest ranking UK institution, ahead of Oxford University and the Centre for Economic Policy Research, London. The RePEc survey considers research and publications by economists employed in official financial institutions (central banks, the World Bank, the IMF) as well as universities such as Bangor. In this latest ranking table, the bibliographical data and citations of 1,505 institutions was analysed. Professor John Thornton, Head of Bangor University’s Business School welcomed the news saying: “This is well-deserved recognition by this highly regarded research resource for the academic community. Bangor University appears 14th on the list and is only preceded by official financial institutions such as the IMF and World Bank and a small selection of the best overseas universities. Bangor takes the highest position of any European university and is ranked 8thamong world universities listed on the table. It reinforces our ranking as the top UK university for research in Accounting, Banking and Finance. Students joining us in Bangor or in our teaching centre in London can be assured that they will be studying with leading academics in their fields.” Bangor Business School is currently ranked as the no.1 Business School in the UK for research in the field of Accounting and Finance, according to the latest Research Assessment Exercise (RAE) by the UK government To see the list in full, visit http://ideas.repec.org/top/top.ban.html Publication Date: 08/11/2013
